Worried about the safety of a child

If you believe a child is at risk of immediate harm please contact the Police on 999

If you are worried that a child may be suffering, or may be at risk of harm you should contact our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 020 8359 4066. The MASH team are available Monday to Thursday 9 am to 5.15 pm and Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

Outside of these hours you should report any concerns that need an immediate response to our emergency duty team on 020 8359 2000.


  • Act promptly
  • Make a note of what you have seen or heard
  • Share with us as much information as you can about the child or family you are worried about 
  • Don’t assume someone else will call or try to deal with the situation yourself
  • We take all calls seriously and will deal with you in confidence.

Professionals worried about a child

The MASH is the single point of entry for all professional referrals about children in need (unborn to 18 years) of targeted early help or child protection.
